OUR ORGANIZATION AT A GLANCE
Drop the Puck for Mental Health knows that our strength lies not only in the words we stand by, but most importantly through the actions of our initiatives. Back in 2018, founders Adan Moallemi, Paul Yioldassis, and Stefan Lehto-Borich set out to raise awareness for an often overlooked aspect of daily life: mental health. For most of humankind, mental health had either been not known or ignored and only recently has it been categorized as a real illness. Drop the Puck for Mental Health seeks to grow this awareness, especially for students who often face mental health problems throughout their studies.
"[Drop the Puck for Mental Health continues] to demonstrate tremendous commitment and passion about contributing to the mental health of kids and teens in our region. Through their annual [hockey] event, their fundraising has provided free access to 15 kids living with mental health challenges, so they can participate in monthly, activity – based programming for a year. The kids learn coping skills, build resiliency and connect with other kids who live with the same challenges and issues. CMHA Vancouver-Fraser has had the wonderful opportunity of working closely with the Drop the Puck Board and team in promoting the event and in exploring ways that they can continue to have a strong, positive impact on these kids so that they can live mentally healthy lives."
